Who we are
Friendscape is an iPhone app for planning trips, events and nights out with other people. This policy covers the app and the friendscape.app website. If you have any question about it, email support@friendscape.app.
What we collect, and why

We do not ask for or store payment card details, and Friendscape never moves money. Where the app helps you split a cost, it is doing arithmetic and telling you who owes who.
Contacts
If you turn on contact discovery, your contacts' phone numbers and email addresses are converted on your device into irreversible hashes with a secret we hold server side, and only those hashes are sent to us. We compare hashes to hashes. We do not store your contacts' names, numbers or addresses, we do not message anyone on your behalf, and we do not build profiles of people who are not Friendscape users. You can turn this off at any time, and doing so deletes the hashes we generated for you.
Analytics and crash reporting
We use Mixpanel to understand which parts of the app get used, and Sentry to record crashes and performance problems. Both receive a pseudonymous identifier for your account rather than your name.
Mixpanel also records session replays, which capture the layout of screens you visit so we can see where people get stuck. All text and all images are masked before anything leaves your device, so a replay shows the shape of a screen and not its contents. You can ask us to exclude your account from replay entirely by emailing us.
We do not use advertising SDKs, we do not track you across other apps or websites, and we do not sell or share personal information for cross context behavioural advertising.
Companies that process data for us
We keep this list specific rather than saying "trusted partners", because you cannot judge the first one.

Who else can see your things
Other people see what you choose to share with them. Every plan has a visibility setting: friends, close friends only, or invite-only. Anything you post inside a plan is visible to the people on that plan. If you make a plan public or publish a guide, it can be seen by anyone with the link, including people without the app.
A plan you were part of does not disappear from other people's copies when you leave, in the same way that leaving a group chat does not unsend your messages.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and its content while your account exists. When you ask us to delete your account we remove your profile and personal information within 30 days, and disconnect you from plans you were on. Content you contributed to someone else's plan may remain on that plan, shown as from a removed member. Backups roll off within 90 days. Anonymous, aggregate usage counts that cannot identify you may be kept.
Your choices
- Delete your account. Email support@friendscape.app from your account's address. See Support for exactly what is removed.
- Get a copy of your data. Ask us and we will send you an export.
- Correct anything. Most of it you can edit in the app; for the rest, ask us.
- Turn permissions off. Contacts, calendar, photos, location and notifications are each optional and can be revoked in iOS Settings at any time. The app works without them, with the matching feature switched off.
- Opt out of analytics or session replay. Email us and we will exclude your account.
If you are in the UK, EU or a US state with a privacy statute, you have these rights by law and we do not charge for them or treat you differently for using them.
Children
Friendscape is not for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. Accounts for organisations such as sports teams deliberately identify young players by jersey number only, never by name or photo. If you believe a child has created an account, email us and we will remove it.
Where your data is
Our infrastructure is in the United States. If you use Friendscape from elsewhere, your information is transferred there and handled under this policy.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access to a plan is enforced by the database itself rather than only by the app, so a plan you were not invited to cannot be read even by a modified client. Photos in a trip's private gallery are served through short lived links rather than public URLs. No system is perfect; if we ever have a breach affecting you, we will tell you.
Changes
If we change this materially we will tell you in the app before it takes effect. The date at the top always reflects the current version.
